LISBON FASHION WEEK SS16 - DAY 1

Hello World People! First of all before I start to share all of my feelings and thoughts around the Portuguese designer collection present on this first day of Lisbon Fashion Week (Modalisboa) I have to tell you that I'm feeling very good to be back home! I can really describe this mix feeling of getting back! 2 Years missing out! ModaLisboa was my very first fashion week! Lots have changed, I have changed. And in mine sincerely opinion for better. One thing that I love in this kind of events is to get back together with lot of people that I'm not seeing for ages! Hang out with some of the most creative, stylish and cool people in the national fashion industry, networking and get to know a bunch of new ones. But getting back to the main point and the main reason of this post! This time not just me but also my team: Joana Afonso and Leone Niel, we got the best of Lisbon Fashion Week for you. This saga will start with this first post! Here you can find a video with the highlights of this first day, some records from the catwalk and backstage as so my comments around this spring/summer collections. Olá Pessoas do Mundo! Antes de começar por partilhar convosco os meus comentários em torno das coleções apresentadas neste primeiro dia da Semana da Moda de Lisboa (Modalisboa) Tenho que dizer que estou extremamente feliz por estar de volta a casa! Não consigo realmente descrever este mix de sensação! Mas foram 2 anos fora! ModaLisoa foi a minha primeira semana de moda! Muito mudou, eu mudei. E na minha opinião, sinceramente, para melhor. Uma coisa que eu adoro neste tipo de eventos é de me encontrar com muita gente que não há 'séculos'! Estar junto com algumas das pessoas mais criativas, elegantee e cools da indústria da moda nacional, networking e conhecer um monte de novas pessoas. Mas voltando ao ponto principal e ao principal motivo deste post! Desta vez, não só eu, mas também a minha equipa: Joana Afonso e Leone Niel, temos para partilhar convosco o melhor da Modalisboa. Esta saga vai começar com este primeiro post! We started this first day with the presentation of ten designers on the platform Sangue Novo (New Blood). This is the destiny of the new upcoming designers. Is the place where they show off there most experimental, creative and strong collections (some) for the first time. Banda (Tiago Loureiro), Carlotaoms (Elisabet Carlota e Elisenda Oms), Carolina Machado, Cristina Real, David Catalán, Inês Duvale, Patrick de Pádua, Rúben Damásio, Sara Santos and Tânia Nicole.  Check out some of the records bellow and some of my comments to some of the highlighted collections. 

Começamos este primeiro dia com a apresentação de dez Designers na plataforma Sangue Novo. Este é o destino dos novos futuros designers. É o lugar onde eles mostram as suas coleções experimentais, criatividade e fortes pontos estéticos (alguns) pela primeira vez. Banda (Tiago Loureiro), Carlotaoms (Elisabet Carlota e Elisenda Oms), Carolina Machado, Cristina real, David Catalán, Inês Duvale, Patrick de Pádua, Rúben Damásio, Sara Santos e Tânia Nicole. Confira alguns dos registros e alguns dos meus comentários às coleções de destaque.

Starting from Band, the brand of my dear friend Tiago Loureiro. I must confess that I was a bit disappointed of not seeing one of his best skills applied into his collection. Tiago is a talented print maker although I kind of liked the Portugal traditional tram print illustration in some of the outfits (that did remind me a lot of Prada SS12) I missed to see is creative and talent skill rocking on is collection! For that I might say that could be one of the reasons he didn't win one of the prizes. But Anyway I fall in love (even if mad on him about the missing point) but this time with the asymmetric construction of the pieces, the right cuts, right fabrics in a adorable palette of colors. 

Band, a marca do meu querido amigo Tiago Loureiro. Devo confessar que fiquei um pouco desapontado de não ver uma de suas melhores habilidades aplicadas na sua coleção. Tiago é uma talentoso "print maker" embora eu meio que gostei da ilustração do eletrico tradicional (que fez lembre-me um monte da colecção Prada SS12) gostava de ter visto mais da sua habilidade criativa e o seu talento na colecção! Talvez essa possa ter sido uma das razões pelas quais ele não ganhou um dos prêmios. Mas de qualquer maneira gostei imenso das construções assimétrica das peças, os cortes perfeitos nos tecidos certos  numa paleta de cores adorável.

Carlotaoms the brand of the duet: Elisabet Carlota and Elisenda Oms. I'm not a massive fan of the brand name. I think sometimes combining the name of the duet and give it as the name of the brand is something that can works, is something cool! But for that the names must create a harmonic fusion and for me that is missing! Anyway that's not the main thing. 'Allegory' the name of this collection is the definition of visual artistic representation of abstract ideas, rendering an image of something previously invisible. Rendering the purely conceptual visible. Not like the name this collections is a perfect combination of the creative process. From yellow to black, black to white and white to yellow, gray was present too. Graphic lines of black on top of white and white on top of black this was on of the top commercial (without losing the creative side) collections presented on this platform. I can imagining my self wearing some of that clothes and that means something!
Carlotaoms a marca do dueto: Elisabet Carlota e Elisenda Oms. Eu não sou um grande fã do nome da marca. Acho que às vezes combinando o nome do dueto e dá-lo como o nome da marca é algo que pode funcionar, mas nem sempre funciona! Acho que para que os nomes funcionem devem haver uma fusão harmônica e para mim isso está em falta! De qualquer forma isso não é o ponto principal. 'Alegoria' o nome desta coleção é a definição de representação artística visual de idéias abstratas, tornando uma imagem de algo previamente invisível. Tornando o puramente conceitual visível. Não gosto do nome da marca como já disse mas a combinação do  processo criativo na colecção está perfeito. Do amarelo ao preto, do branco ao preto, e do branco ao amarelo, cinza estava presente também. Linhas gráficas de preto em cima de branco e branco sobre o preto esta coleção foi de todo a mais comercial (sem perder o lado criativo)  apresentada nesta plataforma. Eu posso imaginar-me a usar várias peças desta colecção, isso significa alguma coisa!

Carolina Machado, left a kind of felling in the air of wannabe Marques Almeida! Maybe because of the denim, maybe because I just saw them during LFW and that is still very present in my mind! I don't know exactly but something was going on! I would call here the denim girl! She did not dive into the dark black summer thing and brought to the catwalk pieces with several cuts strategically in intended points in order to draw the attention to small details of the body itself. The strips that surround some of the pieces enhance the curves and silhouette of the human body. Some interesting asymmetric cuts in a color palette develops in a range of blues with notes of beige.
Carolina Machado, deixou uma espécie de sensação no ar de wannabe Marques Almeida! Talvez por causa do denim, talvez porque eu vi recentemente Marques Almeida durante a LFW e que ainda está muito presente na minha mente! Eu não sei exatamente, mas algo aconteceu para me sentir asim! Gostaria de chamar a chamar a 'denim girl'! Ao contrario dos restantes designers Carolina não mergulhou na coisa do verão escuro carregado e preto mas sim trouxe para a passarela as peças com vários cortes estrategicamente em pontos pretendidos, a fim de chamar a atenção aos pequenos detalhes do próprio corpo. As tiras que envolvem algumas das peças realçar as curvas e silhueta do corpo humano. Alguns cortes assimétricos interessantes em uma paleta de cores se desenvolve em uma escala de azuis com notas de bege.

Glittery, sexiness and some rock&roll is my description to 'Disform' the collection of Cristina Real. 'Badass girls' in shinny coats with high waist underpants. Very now, very current, trashy but sophisticated with a creative but strategic commercial aesthetic.
Glittery, sensualidade e um pouco de rock & roll é minha descrição de 'Disform' a coleção de Cristina Real. 'Badass girls' em casacos brilhantes, com cuecas de cintura alta. Muito actual, street mas sofisticado, com uma estética criativo, mas estrategicamente comercial.

My dear friend Ruben Damásio brought us 'H2O Proof'. Having water as the key element of this collection Damásio gave us a minimal, clear and simple collection. Clearly light and transparent I have to highlight in this collection the one piece, jumpsuit. 

Meu querido amigo Ruben Damásio nos trouxe 'H2O Proof'. Tendo a água como o elemento-chave desta coleção Damásio nos deu uma coleção minimalista, clara e simples. Claramente leve e transparente eu tenho que destacar nesta coleção, o uma peça, jumpsuit.

Last but not least the to winners of the night, Sara Santos e Tânia Nicole. Nicole won the prize of representing Portugal in the Dutch Fashion Festival in Maastricht, 2016 and Sara she won a 5 weeks workshop in the value of €5400 at the Domus Academy in Milan and €5000 for expenses. Santos showed us a street and sportswear collection driven by a subculture from the 60's. Oversize is the key word in a black, blue and white summer collection. Not really my coup of tea but she wanted to brings back the British rebel teenagers subculture. I can see that, but maybe was my problem I was not ready for this coupe of tea. Maybe next time maybe I will take the tea and she will convince me next season about her designs. Also inspired from British culture Tânia creates a collection’s where the men silhouettes came from the “Men´s Dress Reform Party” group, which joined several London artists and doctors in the late 1920’s. This revolutionary group advocated new aesthetic and social ideals expressed in a manifesto that promoted health and comfort, as well as individuality and practicality. The document proclaimed new ideals especially in the health sector, through the use of washable materials, larger and comfortable underwear, and more appropriate clothing for the warmer seasons, including shorts, kilts and sandals. These new ideals have influenced the collection in terms of materials, details and defining the outfits of the collection.
'Last but not least' o aos vencedores da noite, Sara Santos e Tânia Nicole. Nicole ganhou o prêmio de representar Portugal no Festival de Moda holandesa em Maastricht, de 2016 e Sara, ela ganhou uma workshop de 5 semanas no valor de € 5.400 na Academia Domus em Milão e 5000 € para as despesas. Santos nos mostrou uma coleção street e sportswear impulsionado por uma subcultura dos anos 60. Oversize é a palavra-chave em uma coleção preto, azul e branco de verão. Não é realmente meu 'coupe of tea'á, mas ela quiz trazer de volta a subcultura britânics dos adolescentes rebeldes. Eu posso ver isso, mas talvez meu problema era que eu não estava pronto para este chá. Talvez da próxima vez eu va tomar o chá e ela  me convença na próxima temporada sobre seus designs. Também inspirado da cultura britânica Tânia cria uma coleção de onde as silhuetas dos homens veio do grupo "MEN'S Vestido Partido da Reforma", que juntou vários artistas e médicos de Londres no final de 1920. Este grupo revolucionário defendido novos ideais estéticos e sociais expressos em um manifesto que promoveu a saúde e conforto, bem como a individualidade e praticidade. O documento proclamou novos ideais especialmente no sector da saúde, através da utilização de materiais laváveis, roupa interior maior e confortável, e roupas mais adequadas para as estações mais quentes, incluindo shorts, saiotes e sandálias. Estes novos ideais influenciaram a coleção em termos de materiais, detalhes e definição das roupas da coleção.

Wrapping up with Sangue Novo, we continue the day with 'Savage Mind' by Catarina Oliveira.  A collection dominated by the transparencies and light fabric with colorful prints. I started to see this show super excited, the silhouette, the garments the match with the all aesthetic and the fluidity of the fabrics, the wooden glasses everything seem perfection but after some looks everything looked a bit the same, maybe because of the strong point and the similarity of the garments but anyway she had a great collection.
Terminando com Sangue Novo, continuamos o dia com "Savage Mind" por Catarina Oliveira. Uma coleção dominada pelo transparências e luz tecido com estampas coloridas. Eu comecei a ver esse show super animado, a silhueta, as coordenados, toda a estética e a fluidez dos tecidos, os ocúlos de sol em madeira tudo parecia  perfeição, mas depois de algums looks tudo parecia um pouco do mesmo, talvez por causa do ponto estético ser forte e à semelhança as peças, mas de qualquer maneira Catarina brindou-nos com uma colecção fantástica. 

Luís Carvalho and 'Flower Explosion'. A beautiful journey from the light, clean a flowering side to a dark intense deep black point. Once again Carvalho make is point and show off all is talent. He's here to stay and not to take the place of anyone, he got is one! And I even dare to say that he is on is way to be one of the best top Portuguese designers. Well done Luís!
Luís Carvalho e "Flower Explosion". Uma bela viagem de luz, um lado do florescimento para um intenso e profunda ponto preto escuro. Mais uma vez Carvalho mostra todo o seu talento. Ele está aqui para ficar e não para tomar o lugar de ninguém, ele tem o seu! E até me atrevo a dizer que ele está no caminho para ser tornar em um dos melhores designers portugueses. Well done Luís!

And to end this lovely first day we finish with the show of one of the biggest names of the national fashion industry, Carlos Gil. Bringing is iconic and signature aesthetic he gave us a beautiful, vibrant and super chic show. Powerful, elegant silhouettes to independent and successful women.
